This plugin relies on the FloatMessage service (floatmessage.com) to deliver floating messages and live chat functionality.
What data is sent and when
- Embed script — When a page loads on your site, the plugin loads a JavaScript file from
https://floatmessage.com/embed/floatmessage.jsto render your configured floating messages and chat widget. Your Message ID and User ID are passed as data attributes on the script tag. - Account status check — When an admin visits the plugin settings page, the plugin sends your User ID to
https://floatmessage.com/api/wp-statusto check your plan/trial status. This response is cached for 4 hours. - Live chat — When visitors use the chat widget, messages are transmitted to FloatMessage servers in real time.
No visitor data is stored in your WordPress database. All message and chat data is managed on FloatMessage servers.

Installation
Automatic Installation
- Go to Plugins Add New in your WordPress admin
- Search for “FloatMessage”
- Click Install Now, then Activate
- Go to Settings FloatMessage
- Enter your Message ID (from the FloatMessage dashboard) and save
Manual Installation
- Download the plugin ZIP from floatmessage.com/downloads/floatmessage-live-chat.zip
- Go to Plugins Add New Upload Plugin
- Upload the ZIP and click Install Now
- Activate and configure under Settings FloatMessage
Get Your Message ID
- Sign up at floatmessage.com (free 30-day trial)
- Create a message in the dashboard
- On the main dashboard page, click Copy ID next to your message
- Paste the ID into the WordPress plugin settings
Enable Live Chat
- Go to floatmessage.com/dashboard/chat/settings
- Enable live chat and configure your settings
- Copy your User ID from the embed code
- Paste it into the WordPress plugin User ID field

What happens when my trial expires?

Your floating messages and chat widget will stop appearing on your site. All your messages and settings are preserved — they’ll resume as soon as you upgrade. The plugin will show a warning in your WordPress admin before and after expiration.

How do I check how many days I have left?

Enter your User ID in the plugin settings. The settings page will show your plan status, including the exact number of days remaining on your trial.

Where do I find my Message ID?

Log in to floatmessage.com/dashboard. Each message in the “Your Messages” section has a Copy ID button.

Can I show multiple floating messages?

Yes! Separate IDs with commas:
abc123,def456,ghi789. Each message runs independently with its own schedule, targeting, and trigger rules. -
Does it work with Elementor / Divi / WPBakery?

Yes. The plugin adds the script globally in the footer, so it works with every WordPress theme and page builder — including Elementor, Divi, WPBakery, Gutenberg, and GeneratePress.

Will it slow down my site?

The embed script is 15KB, loads asynchronously in the footer, and uses Shadow DOM to prevent CSS conflicts.
