It is cookieless by design: no cookies, no cross- site tracking, no IP addresses stored. In most setups that means no consent banner is needed for analytics. **Everything in the free plugin:** * **Real-time panel** — who is on your site right now, active pages and live sources. * **Clear KPIs with trends** — visitors (true uniques over the whole period), pageviews, sessions and bounce rate, always compared to the previous period. * **Acquisition channels** — organic, direct, social, referral, paid ads, paid social and AI assistants (ChatGPT, Perplexity & co.). * **Top pages with drill-down** — click any page for time on page, bounce, entry/ exit rates, its traffic sources and devices. * **Events** — outbound clicks, file downloads and form submissions (only the fact of the submit; never any form content). * **WooCommerce built in** — revenue, orders, conversion rate, average order value, revenue by channel (cookieless last-touch attribution), top products and a five- step path-to-purchase funnel. * **Countries and devices** — visitor countries from network edge headers, device split. * **A dashboard people understand** — contextual “?” explanations on every metric, a collapsible how-to-read guide and silent auto-refresh. Everything listed above is included and fully functional in this plugin. There are no locked features, no license keys and no usage limits. Additional functionality (Customer Journey flow visualisation, automatic recommendations, weekly e-mail reports and CSV exports) is available in a separate plugin distributed from our own website. ### Privacy Fogless does not set cookies and does not store IP addresses. Visitor country is derived from network edge headers when present; no GeoIP database of personal data is kept. Raw event data is retained for 90 days (adjustable via the `retention_days` setting) and then deleted automatically; aggregated daily statistics are kept. Install and activate the plugin through the Plugins screen in WordPress. 2. Open the **Fogless** menu item to view your dashboard. 3. That’s it — tracking starts immediately; no configuration is required. ## FAQ ### Do I need a cookie consent banner for this? Fogless sets no cookies and stores no personal data such as IP addresses. A visitor is counted using a one-way salted hash that changes every day, so visitors cannot be tracked across days. In most GDPR interpretations this qualifies as consent-free analytics — but the legal assessment of your site is always yours to make. ### How is a visitor counted without cookies? Each pageview is attributed to a hash of (IP address + browser + your site host) keyed with a salt that is regenerated daily and the old salt discarded. The IP address itself is used only transiently in memory and never written to the database. ### Does it work with WooCommerce? Yes — out of the box. Fogless records revenue, orders, conversion rate and average order value, attributes orders to the visitor’s acquisition channel (last non-direct source), shows your top products and a five-step funnel from visit to purchase. ### Does it slow my site down? No. The tracking beacon is a ~2 kB script that fires once per pageview, asynchronously, and never blocks rendering. Dashboard queries read from daily rollup tables, and old raw data is pruned automatically. ### Does the dashboard keep hitting my server while it is open? No. The live panel refreshes about every 15 seconds, but only while the dashboard tab is actually in the foreground and you are working in it. When you switch tabs it stops completely, and after a few minutes without interaction it stands down until you come back. On a slow server it automatically backs off further, so it never queues requests faster than the site can answer them. ### Where is my data stored? In your own WordPress database. Nothing is sent to any external service — the plugin makes no outside requests at all (even fonts are bundled). ### Is anything limited or locked in this plugin? No. Every feature listed above is fully functional, with no license key, trial period or usage limit. A separate plugin available from our website adds further functionality (journey visualisation, automatic recommendations, e-mail reports and CSV exports), but nothing here depends on it. ### How long is my data kept? Raw event data is kept for 90 days by default and then pruned automatically; aggregated daily statistics are kept indefinitely.
